Description |
GPOVault Enterprise is a client-server version of the GPOVault product.
GPOVault is an add-in to Microsoft’s Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) product, the primary tool for Group Policy management on Active Directory networks. GPOVault integrates several new Group Policy management capabilities into GPMC, including a comprehensive change control system.
The Problem
Changes to Group Policy Objects can affect every user and computer on a network. However, without a change control system, changes are made against live GPOs and start affecting computers even before they can be tested. If changes have an unexpected adverse impact, there is no way to quickly revert them to a known good state. Although Group Policy provides a granular delegation model, the editor role has full permissions to deploy changes to the live environment, and must do so to edit settings. With the possibility of multiple editors per GPO, there is no way to detect who has made what changes, or to accept or reject changes before they are put into effect.

Leverage investments in Microsoft Active Directory by using native tools and technologies to better manage standardization, security and compliance.
Manage the lifecycle of Group Policy by controlling, standardizing and auditing the creation, deployment and destruction of Group Policy Objects.
Reduce the risk of widespread failures resulting from improperly planned or poorly understood application of potentially crippling policy settings. Offline editing, difference reporting and change control serve to stabilize the policy management process.
Preserve a robust delegation model inside the change control system by assigning control over individual GPOs to specific administrators – with or without giving them the power to modify other GPOs or deploy to the live environment.
Implement role-based administration consistent with their existing administrator roles. Common roles such as editor, reviewer and approver may be implemented at all levels.
Ensure that policy work flow proceeds efficiently by allowing administrators to subscribe to policy change email notifications and quickly approve change requests.
Always know what has changed in their Group Policy environment by leveraging historical difference reporting and audit logging.
Recover a deleted GPO using the recycle bin, minimizing lost time and any potential security lapse that may result from an inadvertent action.
Repair a live GPO that may have become corrupted due to problems such as file system or active directory synchronization failure.
Quickly rollback deployed changes to a prior state, for individual or multiple GPOs, to a version, label, or time stamp.
Create a GPO template library to manage the creation of new GPOs for common scenarios and to configure Local GPOs on remote computers.
Leverage GPMC investments as there is no new console to learn. Also, since GPOVault utilizes the native GPMC backup data format, two-way portability of archived data is preserved. |
